Fresh plans have come forward this week to demolish the former Bell and Bear pub in Shelton (Nub News).

A fresh application has been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council to demolish a former pub in Shelton.

The Bell and Bear, on Snow Hill in Shelton, first opened in the early 20th century and was once a very popular Potteries pub.

But the building has been vacant for some time, boarded up and subject to vandalism in recent years.

Mr Ahmed, the owner of the building, applied for permission back in April to demolish the pub but his plans were refused because the site is of "high local importance".

A previous application to demolish the pub was recommended for refusal in April this year (Nub News).

Now, he has applied for permission again to demolish the vacant premises, this time to make way for a mainstream supermarket with a branded hotel above it.

A decision is expected regarding these plans in the coming months
