Former Royal Stoke doctor jailed after admitting multiple child sexual offences

A former Royal Stoke doctor who had a 'paedophile manual' and thousands of indecent images of children has been jailed after he admitted multiple child sexual offences from between 2022 and 2025.
Matthew Isles, 53, of Whiston, Staffordshire, had been a doctor at Stafford County Hospital and the Royal Stoke. He was arrested in February this year on suspicion of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. Various devices were seized from his house and he was charged, pleading guilty the following day.
Staffordshire Police says Isles was arrested again on 10 March and charged with twelve other offences, which he later admitted to in court.
These offences included attempting to have sexual communication with a child, attempting to incite a girl aged 13-15 into sexual activity, possession of a "paedophile manual", two counts of possession of "extreme" pornographic images, and three counts of making indecent images of a child or pseudo-photograph of a child.
Detectives found thousands of indecent images on Isles's phone. - including category A' images - the most severe classification of indecent images of children.
He been sentenced to three years and 10 months in jail at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court today (13 August) after he pleaded guilty to 14 offences. He has also been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Detective inspector Alex Glover said: "Isles sought out and hoarded images of the most horrific abuse of children.
"The continued circulation of child sexual abuse material normalises abuse and incentivises the creation of new content.
"We have worked closely with NHS organisations and conducted a thorough investigation into the offences committed by Isles."
