Waterworld sold to leisure giant in multi-million pound deal

Waterworld was sold in a multi-million pound deal to a European leisure company just days before the tragic death of an eight-year-old girl.
Mo Chaudry stepped down as a director of Waterworld Leisure Limited on 31 July and says he will now be putting more focus on philanthropy.
Laurent Eugéne Jacques Bruloy, CEO of Looping Group which owns Drayton Manor has taken his place and Daily Focus report that the deal is expected to be worth tens of millions of pounds.
The shock news comes after an eight-year-old girl died in hospital after an incident in the lagoon area of the waterpark on 4 August. The incident has since been under investigation by Staffordshire Police and Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
In a statement posted on social media, Mo, chairman of M Investent Group, said: "Waterworld has been a huge part of my life and business journey.
"From the early days to the recent major reinvestments, it's been a privilege to see it grow into one of the UK's most iconic attractions, welcoming millions of visitors and creating countless memories.
"I'm so proud of what we've achieved together as a team.
"This moment has also made me reflect on my own journey. I came to the UK with my family from humble beginnings — we had nothing. I started my adult life living in a £10-a-week bedsit, but one thing I did have was hope and ambition."
M Investment Group also owns M Club Spa and Fitness and a majority stake in the fitness equipment manufacturer Pulse Global Limited.
Looping Group, which has taken on the attraction, runs West Midlands Safari Park, Drayton Manor and more than 20 other attractions, including five other water parks.
Mo added: "I could never have imagined the life I live today. I'm still in awe of how far things have come, and deeply humbled to be in a position to share this story with you.
"But make no mistake — I'm far from finished in business. In many ways, I feel like I'm only just getting started. This next chapter isn't just about building more success; it's about building more impact.
"I'll be putting a greater focus on philanthropy — supporting causes that matter, helping those in need, and giving back to the communities that shaped me."
