The Chief Executive of YMCA North Staffordshire is set to retire after 23 years of leadership.

Danny Flynn will continue in his role until he retires on 31 March 2026, following over two decades of service to local young people and communities.

Danny said: "It has been the greatest privilege of my working life to serve YMCA North Staffordshire and the young people we exist for.

"Together, we have achieved transformational change and built something truly special for this community.

"I am confident that the YMCA is in an excellent place for the future and look forward to seeing the next chapter unfold."

In a message to colleagues and partners, Danny explained his decision to retire has been driven by family circumstances, as he steps back to become his wife's primary carer.

A spokesperson for YMCA North Staffordshire said: "Under Danny's leadership, YMCA North Staffordshire has grown into one of the region's most impactful youth and community organisations.

"His tenure has included the development of award-winning services, expansion of community facilities, and the creation of innovative programmes supporting vulnerable young people, families and communities.

"Danny's contribution has also been recognised beyond the organisation, reflecting the profound impact of his leadership and advocacy work in North Staffordshire.

"His influence has helped raise the voice and aspirations of young people, strengthen community partnerships, and embed a culture of compassion and ambition across the organisation."

The Board of Trustees has confirmed that a structured succession process is already underway to ensure continuity and stability. They will work with Danny and the leadership team over the coming months to ensure a smooth handover.
