The Christmas light switch on at a local care home was attended by the Deputy Mayor.

Shoemaker Place, at The Fillybrooks, Stone hosted their Christmas light switch on and Christmas fayre on Friday (28 November).

The Deputy Mayor of Stone, Cllr Best, attended the Borough Care home event with his mother and daughter.

Pupils from the Yarlet school choir also attended and performed for the visitors.

There was an opportunity for children to talk to the residents at the event which also featured a festive fayre with mince pies and refreshments.

Sharon Parkes, Customer Relationship Manager at Borough Care, said: "I was thrilled with the number of attendees, it was wonderful to meet Councillor Best, the Deputy Town Mayor, and to see everybody enjoying the Yarlett School Choir festive performance."

The home will also be running a Christmas Trussell Trust food bank collection throughout December and are encouraging members of the public to drop off any non-perishable food donations.

Sharon added: "It is so important for us to maintain strong links with our local community, we are holding a foodbank collection throughout December so if anyone would like to donate food items please drop them into our team at Shoemaker place."
