Three men were sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, in Hanley, this week for their involvement in a lengthy police chase (Nub News).

Three men have been jailed for their involvement in a vehicle pursuit which spanned three separate policing areas.

Twin brothers Jamie and Michael Caddick, both 42 and of no fixed address, and Thomas Taylor-Dowson, 43, from York, were all sentenced to a combined term of three and a half years behind bars.

In February this year, the trio spotted a delivery van which had the keys inside in North Yorkshire. The owner's wallet, house keys and bank cards were inside.

They got in the van and drove it away, leaving the owner to call police and report his van as stolen.

(L-R) Jamie Caddick, Michael Caddick and Thomas Taylor-Dowson have been jailed for a combined term of three and a half years (Staffordshire Police).

The van failed to stop and was followed into Derbyshire where it deliberately rammed two police cars.

Then, after failing to stop on numerous occasions, the van made its way into Staffordshire.

Taylor-Dowson got out of the van and forced his way inside a parked Audi at a car dealership in Etruria, Stoke-on-Trent.

He ran over a man's foot in his attempts to escape but was quickly apprehended by members of the public and officers who arrested him at the scene.

Luckily, the man only suffered a bruised foot.

Both Michael and Jamie Caddick continued in the van and tried to lose police by driving onto the oncoming carriageway of the A50.

The trio were also ordered to pay £187 each in costs (Staffordshire Police).

A short time later, they tried to steal another car but were unsuccessful. They carried on driving in the van until our colleagues from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) spotted them running into an address in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent.

We forced our way inside and arrested both of them.

The trio were sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday (4 July) after pleading guilty to a number of offences in April.

Jamie was jailed for one year for aggravated vehicle taking and banned from driving for two years.

Michael was sentenced to 18 months for the same offence, as well as driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance. He was banned from driving for five years.

Taylor-Dowson was jailed for one year for the same offences, as well as driving without a licence, taking a vehicle without consent, failing to provide a specimen and two counts of assault by beating. He was banned from driving for two years.

The trio were also ordered to pay £187 each in costs as part of their sentencing.
