A derelict bowls pavilion in a Stoke-on-Trent park could be demolished, if plans are approved by the local council.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council has submitted a planning application for the "demolition of a building that sits within the grounds of the Grade II-listed Victoria Park".

The bowls pavilion at Victoria Park, Tunstall, is in a poor state of repair and has suffered from anti-social behaviour and vandalism in recent years.

The application says: "The building was severely damaged by fire in 1998 and again in 2019, which has left the building vulnerable to antisocial behaviour and vandalism.

"Following the building's fire in 2019, the fire damaged rood was removed and the gable walls dismantled down to eaves level. The building has been left empty, boarded-up and fenced off.

"Following demolition of the building, it is proposed to extend the planted borders along the east boundary of the park, to match the existing planting scheme. An area of tracked path will be extended and made good on the footprint of the building."

The full planning application can be viewed here.
