Boy taken to hospital with 'serious injuries' following collision in Stoke-on-Trent

A boy received trauma care by ambulance medics after being involved in a road traffic collision whilst riding his bicycle in Stoke-on-Trent last night.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Leek Road at 6.16pm (Monday) to reports of a road traffic collision involving a cyclist and a car. An ambulance, a paramedic officer, a critical care paramedic and two North Staffordshire BASICS doctors responded to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "When ambulance staff arrived on scene they found a cyclist, a boy, being cared for by bystanders.

"Upon assessment the boy was found with serious injuries and the team quickly administered trauma care to him to stabilise his condition.

"The boy was conveyed by land ambulance on blue lights and sirens to Birmingham Children's Hospital whilst continuing to receive treatment by medics en route."
