Hilton House Care Home has submitted plans for an extension to create 25 extra bedrooms (LDRS).

A proposed extension to a care home near Royal Stoke University Hospital could create more than 25 extra bedrooms and help meet local demand for spaces.

Plans have been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council for a three-storey extension to the south west of Hilton House at Hartshill.

The Hilton Road residential home currently has 51 bedrooms and the proposal includes modernisation of these existing rooms. A design and access statement submitted as part of the planning application said: "This proposal will bring a series of benefits to the wider community and future residents.

"The creation of 27 additional bedrooms would count towards the local authority's targets. Residents who take up these bedrooms are likely to leave much larger homes elsewhere, freeing up apartments and houses for local families.

"The proposal will include new varied and modern day rooms and garden amenities that will be beneficial for both new residents and current residents. Landscaped gardens to the front, sides and rear (will) further improve the view from the street and neighbours' properties."
