Seven new homes planned for former Stoke-on-Trent pub site
Seven new homes could be built on the site of a former pub in Stoke-on-Trent.
Brindley's Lock in Packmoor closed almost a year ago and the vacant site has been targeted by vandals.
It could be transformed into a housing development however if plans are approved by Stoke-on-Trent City Council. Four four-bedroom and three three-bedroom houses are proposed for the site at Silverstone Crescent.
A design statement submitted as part of the application said: "The application site is a vacant, brownfield site located in an existing residential area that is highly accessible by bus, bicycle and foot. It is also adjacent to existing neighbourhood shopping facilities, a children's nursery and local schools.
"The pub closed in May 2022, partly as result of the Covid-19 pandemic and competition from the numerous other pubs that lie within walking distance of the application site. The proposed development will deliver a range of benefits, including the high-quality redevelopment of a vacant, brownfield site which, in its current state, attracts vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
"The applicant has taken measures to ensure the security of the site. And the proposed development will result in significant benefits arising from the regeneration of the site to provide for a safe, sustainable development for the good of the local community."
