Staffordshire Police is appealing for witnesses following a crash in Stoke-on-Trent.

At 4.45am today (Thursday 27 August), officers alongside West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to a report of a collision involving a car and a bicycle on Dividy Road in Bentilee.

The police force confirmed that the cyclist, a man, was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a "stable condition".

Following the collision, Staffordshire Police said the front seat passenger got out of the car before getting back in, and the vehicle then left the scene.

The car - a silver Lexus Sport CVT - was stolen from an address near Longton Hall Road in Blurton before the crash, police said.

The driver and passenger have been described as men wearing all black clothing, full face coverings with hoods up and gloves.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who may have relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact them by calling 101, or via Live Chat on the website, quoting incident number 88 of 27 August.
