A new convenience store could open inside a vacant Stoke-on-Trent premises if plans are approved by the city council.

Mrs Pirabhuthaasun has applied for permission to make external alterations to 39 Causeley Road, Bucknall, including the installation of a new 'Go Local Extra' sign.

The premises is currently a vacant retail shop, previously home to Star Foods Supermarket.

No new vehicle access is proposed for the shop, but the applicant does want to replace the pedestrian access with a ramp.

If approved, the new store would also create one full-time job and two part-time jobs.

A planning statement submitted as part of the application states: "The applicant has recently taken over lease of these premises from Stoke-on-Trent City Council and seeks make some modifications in order for their business to operate as intended.

If approved, the new store would create three new jobs (Nub News).

"The replacement shopfront would be as per submitted drawings in grey aluminium finish with a single door located to the far right of the shopfront.

"Currently the access ramp has been problematic as it is not inline with DDA requirements and as part of the works the client requires this to avoid a step up into the shop.

"As there is sufficient space outside the shop frontage the client is proposing to erect a new concrete ramp that will be finished with non-slip grit paint and a wrought iron handrail painted in black finish.

"Aside to the above the shutter will be colour matched to the shop front but the width etc of this will remain unchanged."

A decision is expected regarding these plans in the coming months.
