Stoke-on-Trent City Council has finally removed rubbish outside a property on Langford Road, Bucknall (LDRS).
Stoke-on-Trent City Council has finally removed rubbish outside a property on Langford Road, Bucknall (LDRS).

Neighbours have won their fight to remove '30 tonnes' of rubbish from outside a council house. They were reporting 90 rats underneath the mountain of furniture, sofas, mattresses and black bags full of rubbish.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council has finally removed the waste from outside the property on Langford Road, in Bucknall.

The last family living at the property have this week declined to share their experiences of the property but the LDRS understands that there have been pest issues at the property for the past three years and the family had council permission to leave the belongings for the local authority to remove them.

Neighbours were reporting 90 rats underneath a mountain of furniture, mattresses and black bags (LDRS).

Neighbour Joshua Downs campaigned for the waste to be removed.

The 20-year-old said: "It was disgraceful. We've had rats running in my back garden. We were getting bad smells in the streets and getting rats running down our gardens."

Neighbour Kelley Sinfield added: "There must have been 30 tonnes of rubbish there and we were overrun with rats. All the neighbours had been on to the council. I've been reporting this since last year and the infestation of rats has just got worse."

Neighbour, Joshua Downs, campaigned for the waste to be removed (LDRS).

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is aware of issues at the property.

A council spokesman said: "We are aware of the issues at the property on Langford Road. We are working with the relevant teams to ensure the issues are addressed."
