Nearly 60 vehicles stopped in day of roadside checks across Stoke-on-Trent

Nearly 60 vehicles were stopped and checked in a day of enforcement action across Stoke-on-Trent last week.
A total of 58 vehicles were pulled over during the roadside operation and Staffordshire Police says around a third of those stops resulted in arrests, vehicle searches or traffic tickets.
The operation, which took place on Thursday (10 July), was led by officers from the Stoke-on-Trent North local policing team, with support from the Roads Policing Unit, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, the DVLA and Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
Two people were arrested on suspicion of drug driving, and another was arrested on suspicion of breaching bail conditions.
Officers also seized two vehicles and issued five tickets for illegal window tints, defective tyres, and driving without a valid MOT.
During the operation, officers also rescued two dogs that had been left inside a locked vehicle in dangerous weather conditions.
Sergeant Emma Blackband said: "I would like to thank our partner agencies who took part in this operation and I hope it sends a clear message that we will not tolerate dangerous driving or vehicles in Stoke-on-Trent.
"We are committed to keeping the city's roads and communities safe."
