Woman in her 60s dies at Stoke-on-Trent shopping centre

A woman in her 60s has sadly passed away after becoming unwell at a shopping centre in Stoke-on-Trent today.

Emergency services were called to The Potteries Centre this afternoon.

A spokesperson for the shopping centre said: "We are very sorry to say that a customer became unwell at The Potteries Centre today. The on-site team responded immediately and paramedics were called and attended very quickly.

"But despite our team and the medical team's best efforts the lady passed away. Our deepest sympathies are with her family and friends at this time."

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We closed the road while our officers and colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service responded to the incident.

"Sadly, the woman, in her 60s, died at the scene.

"The woman's next of kin has been informed and our thoughts are with her family at this distressing time.

"Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner."
