Woman dies after police arrest Stoke-on-Trent man on suspicion of assault

A woman has died after police were called to a property on Kingsdale Close, Meir, on Thursday afternoon following reports of an assault.

Police attended the scene and found a woman, in her 40s, injured.

She was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly died a short time later.

A 38-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating.

The woman's family are being supported by specially-trained officers at this difficult time.

A referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) in relation to the incident as police were present.
