Huge delays across Stoke-on-Trent as part of A50 remains closed following lorry fire

Part of the A50 in Stoke-on-Trent is currently closed following a lorry fire this morning, causing huge delays across the city as motorists seek alternative routes. 

The eastbound carriageway between Sideway roundabout and the turn-off for Trentham Lakes has been closed. 

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We were called to the A50, Stoke-on-Trent, just over 4.10am this morning (Monday 22 May) following reports of a lorry fire.

"Officers went to the scene with colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Highways. 

A lorry, which was on fire, was extinguished by fire crews. Officers remain at the scene."

The incident has caused huge delays across Stoke-on-Trent (Nub News).

National Highways is advising motorists to "allow extra journey time".
