Staffordshire University has announced that, from today (23 September), it will officially be known as University of Staffordshire.

The facility said the change represents a step forward in the University's ongoing journey, highlighting its deep connection to the county of Staffordshire.

Professor Martin Jones, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, said: "This change is about more than just a name. It encapsulates our vision for the future and the endless possibilities that education can unlock.

"For over a century, we have been transforming lives – empowering individuals who, in turn, have transformed society across Staffordshire and beyond. Our roots run deep in the heart of the region, and our impact resonates far beyond our borders. Based in Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford, Lichfield, and London, we take immense pride in this latest evolution, signalling that we are not just a university in the region, but a university for the region – a beacon of knowledge, innovation, and opportunity like no other."

This comes as a huge new student campus is planned for Leek Road (Nub News).

Colin Hughes, Chair of the Board of Governors, said: "Our new identity will resonate with prospective students, partners, and the wider community, ensuring that they feel a part of something special, something that is genuinely making a difference. We are eager to see how this new chapter will inspire our students, staff, and partners as we continue to make a positive impact locally, regionally and globally."

The new brand strategy, centred around the theme of 'possibility realised', celebrates diversity, inclusion, and opportunity. It is a reflection of the University's belief in the transformative power of education and its role in helping individuals unlock their potential.

The University's revitalised identity will be rolled out across all platforms this Autumn, with a focus on showcasing its vibrant, inclusive, and forward-looking approach. This transformation is a bold statement of the University's intent to remain at the forefront of higher education, ensuring that it is a place where all voices are heard, and all aspirations are supported.
