Placards have been erected in protest of proposed future housing on a busy Stoke-on-Trent road. The placards on Outclough Road in Brindley Ford.

Proposals for 69 homes have been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council, however, have not yet been validated. They related to undeveloped land between Finch Street and Peck Mill Lane.

Brindley Ford residents heard about the development over a year ago when a flyer was posted through doors. At that time residents have their chance to submit feedback on the plans.

In recent weeks placards against the development have been placed on the main Outclough Road. Issues such as the increase in traffic, the loss of wildlife and the loss of privacy have been raised by residents.

Resident Westley Holland said: "There is loads of nature on there like bats and deer. I'm surprised they're allowed to do it being so close to Chatterley Whitfield and all the mine shafts around there."

Clarla Tracey added: "It's just how close it is and then obviously the traffic with this road and it's going to be producing more traffic. Our privacy will be gone with how close they will be to us."

A Gleeson spokesperson said: "Gleeson is delighted to have lodged a planning application for 69 homes in this fantastic location. We are currently awaiting the application to be validated from the council. Should Gleeson be granted planning, we anticipate high demand for our quality homes."
