A three-storey block of flats will be built on vacant land in Stoke-on-Trent if plans are approved by the city council.

Grid Set Construction Limited has applied for permission to build a three-storey building comprising of five one-bedroom flats on the corner of St John Street and Jervis Street, Hanley.

The new development would also have amenity space, a bin store and space for eight bicycles on site.

The ground and first floor would each have two flats - each comprising of a bedroom, kitchen / living / dining area and an en-suite and the second floor would have a slightly larger fifth flat.

A planning statement, submitted as part of the application, states: "The design of the scheme has been amended to ensure the development promotes a high standard of design and harmonises with the wider area in which it will be situated.

"Elements of the design have been revised to promote a high standard of residential amenity for future and existing occupiers."

A decision is expected regarding these plans in the coming months.
