Stoke-on-Trent park set to celebrate 90 years since the Spitfire's first flight

A Stoke-on-Trent park will be hosting an event to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Spitfire's first flight this weekend.
The anniversary will be celebrated in Hanley Park on Saturday 13 June between 11am and 3pm to honour the Staffordshire born Spitfire designer, Reginald Mitchell.
The event will feature live music, military displays and storytelling alongside the official opening of the Spitfire bedding display, sponsored by RTC Medical Solutions Ltd, Smithfield and Friends of Hanley Park
A spokesperson for Friends of Hanley Park said: "This event is not only a wonderful opportunity to showcase the parks new spitfire bedding display but it allows us to bring the community together and pay a special thank you to our Sponsors RTC Medical Ltd, and Smithfield Stoke and the volunteers of the Friends of Hanley Park to bringing us this free community event."
There will be live music by the Victory Vixens taking place at the bandstand during the event as well as Storytelling with Steve Williams.
Additionally, there will be military displays, Spitfire themed crafts provided by the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery and the Burslem Remembrance Group will be attending.
Food and drinks will be available throughout the event from Lilly's Kitchen and an ice cream van.
