Members of the public have had a chance to see the latest multi-million pound plans for regenerating a former potbank.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council unveiled its new masterplan for the Spode site, in Stoke, earlier this year, with proposals to bring historic pottery buildings back into use with £10 million of levelling up cash.

The council has been holding a series of drop-in events giving residents and businesses an opportunity to see what is planned for the site. Under the current development plan, drawn up by consultants from Mace, some buildings would be demolished while others would be refurbished for a range of uses, such as office, art studios and hubs for 'crea-tech' businesses.

Planning applications are being drawn up for the scheme, which will also include infrastructure works to improve access and provide parking.

Residents and businesses have had the opportunity to see the plans (LDRS).

The council is set to appoint Mace as the delivery manager for the first phase of the redevelopment, which will be funded by the levelling up cash. The government has agreed to extend the deadline for spending the money to May 2026.

Margaret Bury, from Trentham, was among those who attended the drop-in event at Stoke Library on Friday. She said: "I had a walk around the Spode site a few years and I thought it was very interesting. It would be good for it to be brought back into use, but I'm not sure how much of this will be for local people, or whether it will be about attracting visitors to Stoke."

Members of the public also had a chance to see how £737,000 of government funding awarded to the Stoke High Street Accelerator project will be spent.

The development will be funded by levelling up cash from the government (LDRS).

Schemes which have been allocated funding so far include a new bi-monthly food festival in the town centre, an initiative to provide radios to local businesses to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour, and the creation of a 'garden incubator space' next to Spode Rose Garden.

Councillor Finlay Gordon-McCusker, cabinet member for transport, infrastructure and regeneration, said: "This is a very exciting and transformative time for Stoke. The development of the Spode site and the High Street Accelerator scheme are huge steps forward in the regeneration of the town. All the plans have been developed to ensure local needs are met and that existing businesses thrive."
