Two car dealerships are set to open in Stoke-on-Trent is opening in the coming weeks at a site which has been empty for over a year.

Swansway Motor Group will bring its secondhand car dealership, Motor Match, and Chinese car brand, BYD, to the site on Victoria Road in Fenton.

This will be the first dealership in the city for both Motor Match and BYD with signs now up outside the new branch, announcing its arrival to Stoke-on-Trent.

Swansway says the opening will create five jobs in the city and 12 employees from other Swansway dealerships will be relocated to the new Victoria Road site.

The newly appointed head of business at the new Stoke-on-Trent dealership, John Buckley, has been with Swansway Motor Group for over 20 years - most recently at Crewe Audi.

The dealership is currently undergoing redevelopment and has been empty since Bravoauto ceased operations there in November 2023.

The Fenton Motor Match and BYD branch will support both retail and fleet customers, with recruitment now underway for technical and support positions.

Swansway Motor Group is currently recruiting for four positions at BYD Stoke: A vehicle technician, MOT tester, sales advisor and a digital merchandiser.

Swansway says customers will be able to part-exchange their vehicles at both BYD and Motor Match with a range of cars for sale less than £10,000 and BYD models available through the Mobility scheme.

This will be the first BYD dealership in the city but the manufacturer sold almost 1,860,000 electric cars globally in 2023, which makes them a market leader for electric vehicles.

Before they became known as a prominent EV manufacturer, BYD were a major player in the electronics market and specialised in the creation of components for mobile and laptop devices - even now, 50% of Apple's iPads are built with BYD components.

Swansway Motor Group, which also operates Stoke Audi, launched Motor Match as its standalone used car operation in 2017.
