Ten stolen bikes and motorbikes seized as part of crackdown in Stoke-on-Trent

Officers from Staffordshire Police have seized ten stolen mountain bikes and motorbikes on one street in Stoke-on-Trent.
Following reports of a group of "unknown men" damaging a vehicle on Grangewood Road in Meir on 3 April at 12:12am, officers found eight stolen mountain bikes and two stolen motorbikes when they attended.
The force says the retrieval of the bikes is part of work to tackle anti-social use of off-road bikes in the city - an issue which was raised with the Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, in Parliament last month.
Staffordshire Police believes one of the motorbikes is linked to wider crime in the city.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Officers attended the scene and seized two stolen motorbikes, one of which is potentially linked to wider crime in the city.
"A total of eight stolen mountain bikes were also found and seized.
"We are committed to combatting nuisance riders who put members of the public and themselves in danger through the illegal and anti-social use of off-road bikes and vehicles.

"Specialist officers are carrying our proactive enforcement and stepping up their efforts to gather evidence around nuisance bikes and vehicles across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
"To report off-road bikes in your area, contact us on 101, quoting incident 9 of 3 April, or use Live Chat on our website."
Last month, the Home Secretary said the increased police powers in relation to off-road bikes would be part of the government's Crime and Policing Bill.
She said: "Some of these off-road bikes are a total nightmare. They drive communities up the wall, it's harassment, and the intimidation that they can also cause.
"That is why we're strengthening the powers, because at the moment, the police have to provide repeat warning before they can take action to seize these bikes.
"We think they should be able to seize these anti-social bikes straight away."
