Six weeks of roadworks starting in Newcastle-under-Lyme on Monday

"Significant" road works are starting in Newcastle-under-Lyme on Monday 9 June and will last for around 6 weeks.
Lower Milehouse Lane will be resurfaced in parts, including the approaches and exits from Douglas Road to approximately 100 meters west of Wilmot Drive.
Crews will also be fixing damaged drainage, kerbing and ironwork and installing additional tactile crossings.
Diversions, overnight works, and temporary lane closures are set to be in place and Staffordshire County Council says access to businesses and homes in the area will be maintained where possible.
Peter Mason, cabinet member for strategic highways at Staffordshire County Council, said: "This is another important highways scheme for Newcastle and part of wider plans to improve roads right across the county.
"It's a busy junction but crews will be doing all they can to minimise any disruption and get the work done as quickly and safely as possible. I'd like to thank people in advance for their patience while this important work takes place."
About the roadworks Staffordshire County Council said: Staffordshire County Council will shortly be carrying out significant works at the B5368 Lower Milehouse Lane, as they start work on an £455,000 investment in the local area.
"The team will be replacing ironwork where necessary, replacing damaged kerbs and resurfacing the carriageway.
"The works will be conducted under lane closures, and nighttime closures for the resurfacing of the carriageway."
