Two men hospitalised after 'large disturbance' in Stoke-on-Trent street

Two men have been hospitalised after a "large disturbance" in Stoke-on-Trent today (6 June).

Emergency services were called out after reports of a stabbing on Argyll Road, off Upper Belgrave Road, in Normacot after 11:45am. Videos which circulated on social media showed at least eight police cars in attendance and a number of people in the street on Argyll Road.

Two men were left with "injuries to the head" and have been taken to hospital by paramedics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service. One of the men was treated for "potentially serious injuries".

Officers from Staffordshire Police are continuing the investigation into the incident. Police will remain present in the area today and will be carrying out additional patrols in Normacot "to ensure no further issues occur".

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a stabbing on Argyll Road at 11.54am, two ambulances and two paramedic officers attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered two patients, both men. One was treated for potentially serious injuries and one for injuries not believed to be serious before they were both taken to hospital."

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We were called to Argyll Road, Normacot, at 11.45am today (Friday 6 June) following reports of a large disturbance in the street.

"Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

"Two men suffered injuries to the head and were taken to hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing at this time.

"Officers remain present in the area to ensure no further issues occur and further additional patrols will continue throughout the afternoon and evening.

"Our investigation is ongoing."
