Royal Stoke University Hospital has submitted a planning application for the "creation of an overflow car park".

The new car park would be accessed through the existing Springfield area and provide an extra 65 parking spaces.

The 7848 square metre site is currently an unsurfaced area within the grounds of Royal Stoke University Hospital.

According to the application, the area would become "an overflow car park during peak time visiting and also give the applicant resilience during pre-planned maintenance of the other car parks".

Royal Stoke University Hospital currently has over 3,000 parking spaces, yet visitors are still advised to "allow plenty of time to find a space" at busy periods, such as afternoon visiting times.

No further details have been provided at this stage; the full planning application can be viewed here.
