A Stoke-on-Trent park has undergone a major transformation following complaints to Stoke-on-Trent City Council and pressure from local ward councillor, Lorraine Beardmore.
Blurton Park, Blurton is heavily used by local residents from nearby housing estates but in recent years has become tired and in need of refurbishment.
Described as one of Stoke-on-Trent's smallest parks, Blurton Park on Rippon Road and is part of a wider green space and even boasts Blurton Mill Pond.
Before the refurbishment of the park the safety flooring had deteriorated following years of use combined with some vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
Blurton resident, Amy Cartlidge was using the park and commented that the park is much better now the flooring has been replaced.
The mother of two said: "The floor was all torn apart and is 100 per cent better than it was. It means you are not tripping. The park is nice because if you want something bigger you have to go to Longton which is a walk away, especially if you don't drive.
"I think there is more they could add to the park like a bigger slide, there is a lot of space and I think they could do more with it."
Stacey Mann, 28 added: "This is the first time I've been on the park since the refurbishment, I think they have done a good job, the flooring was really bad before. It is nice to see some improvements to the area."
Councillor Lorraine Beardmore has been asking for improvements for the park for a while however, the improvement only took a couple of days to carry out and now encourages people to go out and use the park
The Community Leader said: "Blurton park is really well loved by the community and it is part of a nicer wider area for Blurton and it is really important that we keep these areas really nice, clean and tidy and looked after for the community.
"So it was really important for me to get the flooring replaced to ensure we can continue to be able to use it as it should be.
"It is just in time for summer and it's great we're going to have that facility now as best it can be for the summer and I hope people go and use it and enjoy it."
