Eight 'nuisance' e-scooters seized by police in Stoke-on-Trent

Eight e-scooters have been seized by police in Stoke-on-Trent in the latest operation to remove dangerous or illegal scooters from the streets.
Officers from Staffordshire Police patrolled Fenton, Stoke, Shelton and Meir on Tuesday (4 August) and removed the eight scooters after they were "seen being driven dangerously or illegally".
It comes as the force also continues to crack down on off-road bikes being ridden dangerously in the Potteries as part of Operation Reclaim which has seen 35 off-road bikes seized so far.
Officers are now reminding e-scooter owners that it is illegal to use them on public roads, cycle lanes or pavements.
Sergeant Will Evans said: "It is illegal to use an e-scooter on a UK public road, cycle lane or pavement, they can only be used on private land with the landowner's permission.
"The unlawful use of e-scooters and bicycles in public places continue to cause a nuisance and a danger within our communities, including to those who ride them.
"We remind you that these scooters and bicycles are strictly prohibited and we will continue to use enforcement measures to address this to protect members of the public"
