One man and four boys have been arrested after a series of motorbike thefts in Stoke-on-Trent last month.

Staffordshire Police says a number of mopeds and motorbikes were stolen from around the city between Wednesday 2 July and Thursday 5 July.

Now an investigation has led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man, two 17-year-old boys and two 14-year-old boys, who are all from Stoke-on-Trent.

They all remain in police custody for questioning.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Following an investigation by our City Proactive team, a 22-year-old man, two 17-year-old boys and a 14-year-old boy, all from Stoke-on-Trent, have been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

"A 14-year-old boy, also from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit vehicle theft."

Anyone with any information which might help the investigation is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 101 of 7 August or use Live Chat on the police website.
