Police discover 400-plant cannabis grow on Tunstall high street

Police discovered a significant grow in a high street property in Stoke-on-Trent, as part of a dedicated operation to target cannabis cultivation.

Officers were called at 5.33am on Friday (12 May) to a large building on High Street, Tunstall, following reports of suspicious activity.

Police found hundreds of young cannabis plants including 200 plants in one room, about 150 plants in another, 50 in a third room and plastic sheeting.

The electricity had been bypassed in the property and a sophisticated heating system had been set up. 

a 37-year-old man was arrested at the scene (Staffordshire Police).

Two mobile phones were also found and seized as well as a log book and £570 in cash.

Western Power Distribution have been informed to isolate the electric supply and currently remain at the scene carrying out forensic inquiries.
