Police charge man after car stopped on M6 near Stoke-on-Trent

Police have charged a man after a car was brought to a halt by officers on the M6 near Stoke-on-Trent.

Kieron Harry Haynes, 28, from Birmingham, has been charged with multiple offences.

Staffordshire Police had said a chase on the M6 on Sunday (28 September) had left four officers with "minor injuries" after three police cars were "rammed".

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Kieron Harry Haynes, 28, from Birmingham, has been charged with three counts of criminal damage to property valued over £5000, four counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker, one count of driving a motor vehicle dangerously, one count of driving whilst disqualified, one count of using a motor vehicle on a road / public place without third party insurance, one count of receiving stolen goods and one count of assault by beating.

"It comes after officers stopped a car on cloned plates on the M6 on Sunday (28 September)."

Haynes has been remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre today (Tuesday 30 September).
