Woman found dead in Stoke-on-Trent

A woman in her 50s has been found dead in Stoke-on-Trent.

Police and paramedics were called to Ridgway Road in Hanley just after 6am this morning (30 September) and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A police cordon has been in place outside Hammond House, off Ridgway Road, this morning and her next of kin have been informed.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We were called at 6.10am this morning (Tuesday 30 September) to Hammond House on Ridgway Road in Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent, following reports of a sudden death.

"Officers attended along with colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

"Sadly, a woman, in her 50s, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

"Her next of kin has been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

"A file will shortly be prepared for HM Coroner."

The West Midlands Ambulance Service said two ambulances were sent to the scene this morning.

A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to an incident on Ridgway Road, two ambulances attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a woman.

"Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene."
