Developers want to build six new retail units along with six two-bedroom flats on land behind Pak Foods on Belgrave Road in Dresden (Nub News).

Plans have been put forward to Stoke-on-Trent City Council to build brand-new retail units with flats above on a vacant former school site in the city.

The land opposite Pak Foods on Belgrave Road in Dresden has been vacant since Dresden Primary School closed in 2002 and the buildings were demolished in 2016.

The applicant and owner of the site, Kandore Properties Ltd, have applied for permission to build six retail units on the site, all of which will have a two-bedroom flat above.

The land has been vacant since Dresden Primary School closed in 2002 and was demolished in 2016 (Nub News).

The occupants of the retail units have already been confirmed:

  • Aisha's Attire, a South Asian fashion and clothing business
  • Asian Bridal Boutique
  • Nafees Bakery and Sweets
  • Sumans Collection
  • Millers Pharmacy will occupy the remaining two units

The shops would be open from 9am to 5pm on Monday-Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

The new retail units, on Belgrave Road, would be open seven days a week and provide 18 new jobs (Nub News).

Six parking spaces would also be provided and the units would create 18 full-time jobs for local residents.

A decision is expected regarding these plans in the coming months.
