A man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary after officers were called to a car fire and found a man injured inside a Stoke-on-Trent house.

It comes after officers, alongside Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, were called to High Street, Tunstall at 7.45am yesterday (Sunday 13 September) following reports of a car fire.

Officers then went to Blakelow Road in Abbey Hulton, to update the owner of the car.

The owner of the car was found with a "number of injuries" which are not believed to be life threatening.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "He was found inside the address with a number of injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains today (Monday 14 September).

"His injuries are not thought to be life threatening or life changing."

Staffordshire Police has confirmed that a 40-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has since been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

The police force says he will be questioned in custody.
