A brand-new takeaway is set to open its doors opposite a nightclub in Stoke-on-Trent, after plans were approved by the city council.

In June, Flames Delight applied for "the change of use to a hot food takeaway including the installation of extraction system and elevation alteration" at 8 Hope Street, Hanley.

8 Hope Street is a vacant retail unit on a busy street on the outskirts of Hanley town centre, situated opposite Gossip nightclub.

According to a planning statement, the business will sell "hot foods consisting of peri peri grilled chicken, grilled kebabs, grilled burgers and pizzas" and the planned opening hours after 4.30pm to 11pm every day.

The new business will employ three members of staff and open seven days a week (Image via planning application).

These plans were approved by Stoke-on-Trent City Council this week and an Officer's Report published yesterday (5 August) says: "The site is located within the designated town centre where it is considered that the provision of a hot food takeaway is reasonable and acceptable.

|No objections have been received from consultee partners relating to the siting of this application in this location. The development raises no design concerns."
