A new three-storey block of flats will be built next to a historic Stoke-on-Trent pub, after a planning application was approved by the council.

Mr Jabbar-Ali applied for permission to build a "three-storey development containing eight apartments with associated external refuse/cycle store, retaining wall and landscaping" at 11 Snow Hill.

The site is currently a car sales forecourt situated next to the former Bell and Bear pub which was saved from demolition only last year.

The new development will create eight one-bedroom flats have eight parking spaces.

The council approved this planning application last week after only one objection was received which raised concerns about anti-social behaviour, access and a lack of parking.

An Officer's Report says: "Whilst the land is currently operating as a car sales unit, the area is mixed in character comprising of commercial units at ground floor and residential units on upper floors.

"There would be no immediate presumption against re-developing the site for this purpose".
