A popular bingo venue in Stoke-on-Trent has closed down after 25 years in the city centre.

Mecca Bingo, based on Octagon Retail Park, shut for good last night (17 March).

A statement on the venue's website says: "Mecca Stoke will be closing for good.

"We'll miss you all loads and want to thank every single one of you for your loyalty and support.

Mecca Bingo first opened in Stoke-on-Trent in the late 1990s (Nub News).

"There's no need to worry about your Mecca Bingo journey coming to an end, our sister club in Crewe is ready and waiting to welcome you."

The popular venue, which first opened in the late 1990s, had on-site parking, a licensed bar, served food and had a huge range of slots and games.

Richard McElroy, Operations Director at Mecca Bingo, said: "It's with a heavy heart that we made the difficult decision to close our club on Octagon Retail Park in Stoke. The club closed yesterday (17th March).

"Mecca Stoke has been a part of the local community for over 25 years, and we want to say a huge thank you to all of our customers."
