Multiple crews are currently dealing with a fire at a shop in Stoke-on-Trent.

Firefighters were called shortly after 1.45pm this afternoon after smoke and flames were seen coming from Farmfoods on Moorland Road, Burslem.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We're advising people in the area to keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution whilst we continue to deal with the fire.

The fire service says an investigation into the cause of the fire will take place once it is safe to do so (Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service).

"Both of the neighbouring buildings have been evacuated.

"We're using hose reel jets, breathing apparatus and ventilation equipment to contain the blaze and stop it from spreading.

"An investigation into the cause will take place once it's safe to do so."

A 53-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of arson.

He will be questioned in custody.
