A new coffee shop and 'sandwich specialist' is the latest business to be confirmed to be opening at Goods Yard in Stoke later this month.

Cafe and bakery business Cotton, which already has branches in Manchester, will be opening a new counter on the ground floor of the 174-apartment building on Monday 23 June.

The indie coffee brand says it will be serving up fresh coffee, juices, pastries and cakes seven days a week between 8am-4pm. And from July, Cotton will launch a new lunch menu featuring artisan sandwiches and fresh salads.

Chris Griffith, founder of Cotton, said: "When we saw what was happening at Goods Yard, we knew we had to be a part of it.

"There's a real buzz already and we're excited to bring our coffee and bakes to Stoke-on-Trent - it's all about quality, community and a bit of fun."

The design of the space is set to have the same 'relaxed atmosphere' as the brand's other locations in Ancoats and at Capital&Centric's Neptune Mill, also in Manchester.

The developer says there are still units which are yet to be filled in the 'Signal Box' on Glebe Street and that the 'Vaults' will be transformed into a food hall - with operators being announced "in the coming months".

Tom Wilmot, joint managing director at Capital&Centric, said: "Goods Yard is flying – we've been blown away by the level of interest, with homes renting at pace and people moving in this month.

"The addition of Cotton will only build on the buzzing community taking shape here.

"They do simple things really well - great coffee, banging bakes, butties that'll knock your socks off and a proper friendly vibe - so we know they'll go down a storm."

Cotton is also setting up a bakery in another Capital&Centric development in Bolton, in Farnworth Green.

Cllr Finlay Gordon-McCusker, cabinet member for transport, infrastructure and regeneration at the city council said: "This has always been all about making a real community space with the kind of hospitality venues people want and will use.

"This development has created exciting opportunities for budding entrepreneurs in the city. It's the perfect example of the kind of thing we want to achieve going forwards."

Cotton is the second business to be officially announced to be moving into the Goods Yard after Avison Young confirmed it would be opening a workspace in the 'Pavilion' building last month.

The Goods Yard neighbourhood includes a 174-apartment block alongside units for businesses. Residents will have access to a small on-site gym, lounge, co-working space and a mini cinema.
