Staffordshire Police has issued a warning to vehicle owners in Stoke-on-Trent after a number of cars in the city were broken into over the weekend.

Residents are being urged to remain vigilant after a man gained entry to three cars off Bob McGory Street in Stoke on Friday 6 June just before 3am.

The man searched inside the cars and a laptop, sunglasses, headphones and trainers were found to have been taken from a blue BMW and grey Renault parked there. A third car was searched but nothing was found to have been taken.

Sergeant Will Evans, from the Stoke South local policing team, said: "We're looking over CCTV, speaking to people in the area and carrying out a number of enquiries to investigate a spate of thefts in the city.

"If you own a vehicle, there are a number of ways you can help deter thieves from targeting you, including making sure it's locked and the keys are safely stored away, parking in view of CCTV and keeping valuables out of sight."

Staffordshire Police is carrying continuing its enquiries in efforts to identify the individual responsible.

If you have seen anything suspicious in your area, report it to Staffordshire Police by calling 101 or using Live Chat on the website.

Alternatively, to report anonymously, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
