The historic landscape, buildings and grounds of Keele University will be open for the public to explore this weekend as part of a Heritage Open Day event.

The University is hosting the Heritage Open Day to celebrate its history, landscape and heritage with a special day of tours, workshops and exhibitions across Keele Hall and its grounds.

The event will run from 11am until 3pm on Sunday 20 September, featuring a range of tours, talks and activities exploring this rich heritage, as well as giving guests the opportunity to make their own mark on the estate with interactive craft activities.

Kerry Jones from ArtsKeele, which is hosting the event, said: "There is something especially lovely about opening the doors of this historic space at the start of the academic year, inviting visitors to step inside and enjoy discovering Keele's rich heritage."

Guests can join guided heritage tours of Keele Hall to discover the stories behind its historic rooms, collections and architectural features.

The Raven Mason Collection of ceramics will also be open for visitors to explore.

Curator Deb Skinner will be on hand to answer any questions at the ceramics exhibition, which showcases part of the region's rich ceramic history.

A special Postcards from the Past display will also feature memories and stories shared by Keele University alumni, offering a unique glimpse into student life across the decades.

A hands‑on mosaic tile workshop will be led by local ceramic artist Sally Fitchard, inspired by the beautiful Minton tiles found on the Keele Hall veranda, with guests able to make their own mosaic to take away and contribute to a Keele Hall themed mosaic artwork.

Participants can also create their own postcard‑sized artwork to take away or post to someone special, with local artist Ian Mood, drawing on Keele Hall's architecture, gardens and University heritage.
