Man arrested on suspicion of murder following 'sudden death' in Stoke-on-Trent

An investigation has been launched and a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the 'sudden death' of a woman in Stoke-on-Trent.

Emergency services were called to an address on Sefton Avenue, Sneyd Green, at around 9.30pm last night (18 March).

Sadly, a woman in her 60s was pronounced dead inside.

Emergency services were called to a property on Sefton Avenue and a woman was pronounced dead at the scene (Google).

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "A 53-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody today.

"A scene has been set-up in the area whilst we continue to investigate what happened.

"We are treating this as an isolated incident.

"A referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to recent police contact with the woman."
