A man has been arrested for drug and weapons offences after police stopped a vehicle in Cobridge last week.

Police stopped a silver Mercedes at 2.30pm on Waterloo Road on 16 January after checks showed the car was being driven without insurance.

Following a search of the vehicle, officers found an airgun, a knife and a quantity of drugs believed to be heroin, crack cocaine and monkey dust.

A 28-year-old man, from the Stoke-on-Trent area, was arrested for possession of an imitation firearm, possession of controlled drugs (class A) and possession of a bladed article. He has been released on conditional police bail while enquiries continue.

The vehicle was seized for no insurance.
