A pregnancy scanning centre has taken action to address concerns raised in its latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Life Through the Lens in Victoria Street, Basford, was found to require improvement by the health service regulator.

The private ultrasound service offers 2D, 3D and 4D imaging for expectant parents, with confirmation scan, sexing scans and growth scans available. An unannounced inspection was carried out by the CQC in February and the inspection report has recently been published.

It said: "Some aspects of the service were not always safe and there was limited assurance about safety. There was an increased risk that people could be harmed.

"People's care, treatment and support did not always achieve good outcomes or was inconsistent. At this assessment we found four regulations had been breached in relation to governance, staffing, safe care and treatment and person-centred care.

"Following this inspection, we told the provider that it must take some actions to comply with regulations. We issued the provider with a S29 warning notice."

A spokesperson for Life Through the Lens said: "Following the recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) report, we have taken prompt and decisive action to address the recommendations raised. A new Registered Manager has been appointed and has already met with the CQC to review all identified actions in detail.

"Significant progress has been made, with the majority of improvements already implemented. We are working to complete all remaining actions by the end of April, in line with the agreed action plan established in collaboration with the CQC.

"Once these actions are fully in place, the Registered Manager has formally requested a further assessment to ensure that the service reflects the improvements made.

"The safety, wellbeing and quality of care provided to our clients, as well as the support and safety of our staff, remain our highest priorities. We are committed to maintaining high standards and delivering continuous improvement across our service."
