Staffordshire Police is appealing for information following a serious Stoke-on-Trent crash involving a child.

It comes after officers were called at around 4pm on Wednesday (22 April) to Commercial Road, Hanley, following reports of a collision involving a silver Volkswagen Polo and a seven-year-old boy, who was riding a scooter.

Staffordshire Police explained that the child was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a "serious but stable condition".

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

Officers spoke to a number of people at the time of the incident and carried out initial enquiries. They are now appealing for further information.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We are now asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who has relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage and has not yet spoken to a police officer to get in touch."

They added: "Anyone with information is asked to call us on 101, use Live Chat on our website, or email collision investigators at [email protected], quoting incident number 521 of 22 April."

The road was temporarily closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and reopened at around 8.45pm.
