Stoke-on-Trent Lord Mayor, Faisal Hussain, hosted a one-off charity football tournament last week in aid of Brighter Futures and The Hubb Foundation.
24 teams took part in the tournament at Fenton Manor Sports Complex last Friday (17 February).
The tournament was open to all and local sports clubs, charities and businesses were encouraged to put forward teams of eight players, with sponsors and donations received going to the Lord Mayor's charities.
Councillor Hussain said, "It has been an honour to have had so many teams sign up for my football tournament, I am delighted by the huge support and interest I have received from local organisations in the community.
"The tournament was a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for causes important to me with the added bonus of getting together to have a fun and enjoyable time and for businesses to network with one another."
The trophy presentation by the Lord Mayor included a cup for the winning team, Matt Done F.C.; the runners up, KMF and two additional trophies for the best player, Chris Shaw; and top scoring team of the tournament, Unitas United.
The winning team, Matt Done F.C. was made up of staff within Port Vale F.C. Academy including coaches, administrators, and education staff. Matt Done is the youth team coach and a former player, having retired at the end of last year.
Billy McClure, Football Operations Manager at Port Vale said: "It was a fantastic event and we are delighted to win. It was great to see so many businesses around Stoke-on-Trent represented and come up against a couple of our sponsors too.
"Most of our games were really competitive which led to some pretty close finishes, and I think a few of the lads are still feeling the effects. The event was so well organised and we enjoyed taking part."
