A section of the A500 is currently closed due to a collision on the A500 Northbound between Porthill Bank and the Tunstall / Kidsgrove turn off.

Eyewitnesses report seeing a collision between two cars, one of which had hit the central reservation.

According to the AA, the section of road is closed and there are delays of around 13 minutes.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of an RTC on the A500 Northbound near Tunstall at around 3.15pm.

"Three ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulances from Cosford and Tatenhill were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered two cars had been involved in a collision.

"One patient, a man, was found in a serious condition receiving basic life support by bystander who had also used a defibrillator.

"Ambulance staff immediately took over to administer advanced life support before he was conveyed via land ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment."
