Lloyds is due to close its branch on Tower Square, Tunstall, next year (Nub News).

Last week, Lloyds Banking Group announced it will close a further 136 branches across the UK, including Lloyds in Tunstall.

Lloyds blamed this closure on customers shifting away from banking in person to using online services.

A petition against the closure has already been signed by almost 200 local residents who say the bank "is always packed and almost every business uses".

The petition was launched by the Vice Chair of Tunstall Town Centre Community Association and they raised concerns about cash points in the town "being subject to fraudulent activity" and "many residents don't feel safe to use these".

Local residents say the branch is always busy and is used by 'almost every business' (Nub News).

It continues: "Not everyone uses online banking, and the nearest other branch is also shutting.

"The reason for closure stated is custom has fallen 41% "nationally" not locally.

"CLLR Din for Tunstall and David Williams MP have been notified and will support the petition."

Lloyds, on Tower Square, is due to close on 9 March 2026 - the petition can be signed here.
