Hanley stabbing left man with 'serious injuries' as two arrested

A man has been left with 'serious injuries' after a stabbing in Stoke-on-Trent city centre yesterday evening.
Police and paramedics were first alerted to the incident on Percy Street in Hanley at 6:40pm on Tuesday (23 September).
A man in his 30s was taken to the hospital and remains in a "serious but stable condition," according to Staffordshire Police.
Officers are now questioning a 36-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man, both from the city, who were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent following the stabbing.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We were called at 6.40pm yesterday (Tuesday 23 September) to Percy Street, Hanley, following reports of an injured man.
"Officers attended the scene and found a man in his 30s with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
"A 36-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man, both from Stoke-on-Trent, have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 – wounding with intent.
"They remain in police custody for questioning."
Police had cordoned off the area on Tuesday evening following the incident.
